…Before we get started, there’s one important thing to understand about AI. It doesn’t actually know things…or understand your intent the way that a person would. AI is a predictive technology, which means it looks at patterns in language and is trained to predict what’s most likely to come next based on what you ask for, how you ask for it, and the context you provide. That’s why the words you use matter. Asking for a table versus asking for a spreadsheet can lead to very different results, even though they may sound the same to you or mean the same thing to you.
Um, when AI gets something really wrong in a task like that, it’s usually because the instructions weren’t clear or were misinterpreted or predicted. And one quick note on security, while you can ask AI not to use your data for training, there are no guarantees. So I never recommend, never recommend putting sensitive or personal information into an AI chat. I would say to you that you AI is so valuable for building tools that you can use outside of AI. I wouldn’t…
use AI for personal or sensitive material…
This is an AI anatomy builder that I made with AI. I don’t know how to write HTML code, but I asked it to make me something that would work for me, and it works every single time. The nice thing about this AI anatomy builder is it asks you the question and leads you through the parts of a good prompt. So let’s start with context and background. It matters because AI chats can’t read your mind.
So you need to share who you are, what you’re working on, and any other relevant context about the project…
And for this mini course, as you know, we are Etsy entrepreneurs. We need to understand our actual cost for products. Maybe you’re gonna add because you wanna make sure you understand the fees and you want to increase your profit. Next is the task or the what of the prompt. You need to be specific, and you need to explain what you want created, what you want analyzed, written, what you want.
The next piece is going to be the output format or structure. In this case, we want a workbook or a spreadsheet or a Google Sheet, but maybe sometimes you may want a graphic, or you may want a long written form, or you may want an HTML form like this. So this is where you wanna make sure that the AI understands exactly what the output is that you’re expecting…
And now, also, if there are requirements or constraints. For instance, if you have a document that you want the AI to use specifically for the request, you would upload it. Or if you’re looking specifically for information about a…demographic, you would explain that here. Um, so this is where you really wanna have your must haves, your constraints, and your rules…
Providing an example is also very helpful. So if you have something from a previous month and you wanted to replicate it for the current month, in this case, I don’t have an example, but I know what I wanna see. I know I want a product tab. I know I want a materials tab. I know I want it to include the Etsy fees and the rates and and all of those things.
So I’m just going to give more information and explain how what what I’m expecting to see. And the process preference, we’re not really gonna use anything there. We’re just gonna click on generate my prompt here. But the process preference is good if you want the AI to interview you and ask you questions it thinks it needs to know in order to give you what you want. And that would be the ask clarifying questions or explain your reasoning.
We’re gonna just dive right in and do it and click generate my prompt…
What I love about this is…it really hasn’t added any words to what we entered, But what it did was it made us not forget all of the pieces of the prompt that we need to give the AI. So now I’m going to copy this, and I’m gonna paste this into my three favorite AI chats. And coming up next, you’re gonna see those results…
